WHEREAS, Saudia Shuler, affectionately known throughout Philadelphia and across the nation as “Auntie Saud", is a true embodiment of Philadelphia’s hustle, heart, and hospitality; and
WHEREAS, As a beloved community leader, entrepreneur, and viral soul food innovator, Saudia Shuler has brought national attention to North Philadelphia with her humor, creativity, generosity, and unmistakable charisma; and
WHEREAS, Saudia has become widely known for her iconic recipes, including Eggaroni and Cheese, her famous seafood salad, and the unforgettable Freaky Candy Yams: a culinary flair that not only entertains millions online but strengthens Philadelphia’s reputation as a City of flavor, tradition, and innovation; and
WHEREAS, Beyond her online presence, Saudia Shuler has built a movement grounded in love for her community, consistently feeding thousands of residents during holidays, shutdowns, and moments of need, ensuring that no “Sonson”, “DaughtDaught”, elder, or neighbor feels forgotten; and
WHEREAS, Her community stewardship extends to employing local youth, hosting resource drives, and organizing extravagant proms and events for neighborhood teens, ensuring that young Philadelphians feel valued, celebrated, and supported; and
WHEREAS, Saudia Shuler’s story of resilience began with selling dinners to support neighborhood children and grew into a thriving culinary empire. This reflects the authentic spirit of North Philadelphia and serves as an inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, With a daily viral presence and an extraordinarily engaged fanbase, Saudia’s influence transcends digital platforms and is rooted in meaningful, tangible impact that uplifts the people of Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, Saudia Shuler represents the very best of what it means to serve, love, and uplift one’s community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY PHILADELPHIA, Hereby honors Saudia Shuler for her profound contributions to the cultural, social, and communal fabric of North Philadelphia by officially designating the corner of Broad Street and Pike Street as “Saudia Shuler Way.”
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed Copy of this Resolution be presented to Saudia Shuler in recognition of her enduring legacy as a community champion, cultural icon, and cherished Philadelphian.
