WHEREAS, Dr. Khine Zaw Arthur is an accomplished entrepreneur, scholar, and community leader who currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia (AACCGP), an organization dedicated to supporting Asian American businesses and strengthening economic opportunity throughout the region; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Arthur has built an international career rooted in service and leadership, having previously contributed to regional initiatives as a Senior Officer for Social Welfare, Women, Labor, and Migrant Workers with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta and earlier worked in global journalism with NHK World International in Tokyo; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Arthur holds a Ph.D. in Human Security and has dedicated her professional work to advancing equity, opportunity, and economic development while fostering partnerships that strengthen communities and support entrepreneurs; and

WHEREAS, In 2016, Dr. Arthur launched entrepreneurial ventures in the United States focused on supporting women facing significant hardships, including survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, creating pathways to economic stability through employment, mentorship, and business training; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Arthur’s leadership and community impact have earned her numerous recognitions, including Lehigh Valley Business Businesswoman of the Year, Lehigh Valley Business 40 Under Forty, YWCA Mission of the Year, Philly Power 100, Philadelphia Magazine’s 150 Most Influential People and City & State Pennsylvania Above & Beyond Women; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby recognizes and honors Dr. Khine Zaw Arthur for her outstanding leadership, entrepreneurial vision and dedication to strengthening communities and expanding opportunity in the City of Philadelphia.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this Resolution be presented to Dr. Khine Zaw Arthur as evidence of the sincere admiration and appreciation of the Council of the City of Philadelphia.
