Amending Title 14 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Zoning and Planning," by adding a new chapter to require specific permit applicants to provide notice of the presence of particular murals on the property to the Department of Licenses and Inspections, all under certain terms and conditions.

THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:

Section 1. Title 14 of The Philadelphia Code is hereby amended to read as follows:

TITLE 14. ZONING AND PLANNING

Chapter 14-1100. MURAL PRESERVATION

§ 14-1101. Permit Notice.

a zoning permit for the following: additions, complete demolition, new construction, or signs, the applicant shall certify to the Department of Licenses and Inspection (“L&I”) whether the property contains a mural covered by an agreement with Mural Arts Philadelphia. If so, the applicant shall also certify whether they have complied with the agreement’s notice requirement.

for a permit concerning a property covered by such agreements. Mural Arts Philadelphia is authorized to provide L&I with a list of properties covered by such agreements, to be updated annually or more regularly as Mural Arts Philadelphia finds feasible.

Section 2. This Ordinance shall become effective in 30 days.
