Full Bill

WHEREAS, The men and women of the United States Armed Forces have served our nation with unwavering courage, dedication, and sacrifice; and

WHEREAS, Veterans have defended the freedoms, values, and principles that define our democracy, often at great personal cost; and

WHEREAS, Their service-whether in times of conflict, peacekeeping, humanitarian missions, or national emergencies-has strengthened the security and resilience of our nation; and

WHEREAS, It is fitting and proper that we recognize and honor the contributions of all veterans, past and present, who have worn the uniform of our country; and

WHEREAS, We encourage all citizens to honor veterans not only on designated observances but throughout the year, through acts of remembrance, service, and support; and

WHEREAS, We feel it only fitting that we express our profound gratitude to all United States veterans for their service, sacrifice, and steadfast commitment to our nation through the renaming of S. Christopher Columbus Boulevard as Veteran’s Memorial Highway; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby renames

S. Christopher Columbus Boulevard from Washington Avenue to Race Street as “Veteran’s Memorial Highway”

to honor the contributions of veterans to our country.
