VETO OVERRIDDEN

The enacted ordinance added rules for campaign contributions and spending in Philadelphia mayoral and City Council elections. It limits contributions from individuals and political committees, requires candidates to use one campaign committee and account, and lets candidates voluntarily agree to spending limits of $2 million for mayor and $200,000 for City Council in exchange for reporting contributions and expenditures publicly; violations may be challenged in court.

Amending Title 20 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Officers and Employees," by adding a new Chapter entitled "Campaign Contributions and Expenditures," under certain terms and conditions.
