The enacted ordinance amended Philadelphia’s building code by adopting the 2003 International Fuel Gas Code, with Philadelphia-specific changes, as the city’s Fuel Gas Code. It sets standards for the design, installation, testing, inspection, operation, and maintenance of fuel-gas piping, equipment, and related systems, with certain exemptions; the provisions took effect January 1, 2004.

Amending Title 4 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "The Philadelphia Building Construction and Occupancy Code," by adopting and incorporating, with certain additions, deletions and amendments, the 2003 International Fuel Gas Code as the Philadelphia Fuel Gas Code, under certain terms and conditions.
