The enacted ordinance requires the Philadelphia Police Department to trace firearms recovered from people who are not legally allowed to possess them, including people under 21, using available information and the federal National Tracing Center. The department must notify the Pennsylvania State Police and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and keep a registry of the reported information.

Amending Chapter 10-800 of the Philadelphia Code, entitled "Safety" by adding a new Section 10-832 entitled "Firearms Tracing" to require that the City of Philadelphia Police Department conduct traces of firearms illegally possessed by anyone under 21 years of age; all under certain terms and conditions.
