The enacted measure amends Philadelphia’s Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP) to allow participants in their fourth year to remain City employees for up to one additional year when the Mayor determines that an extraordinary circumstance threatens public health, safety, and welfare and an extension is in the City’s best interests. The change takes effect only if Bill No. 060506 is also adopted into law.

Amending Section 22-310 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP)," by defining the employees to whom an extraordinary extension for participants in the DROP program may apply, under certain terms and conditions.
