PASSED
This enacted ordinance provides unpaid leave for employees who experience domestic or sexual violence, or whose family or household member does, so they can seek medical care, counseling, victim services, safety or relocation assistance, or legal help. Employees may take up to 8 workweeks of leave in a 12-month period if their employer has 50 or more employees, or up to 4 workweeks if the employer has fewer than 50; employers must keep the information confidential and may not retaliate, and the ordinance was set to take effect 60 days after becoming law and expire one year later.
Amending Section 9-1103 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Unlawful Employment Practices," and enacting a new Chapter 9-3200, entitled "Entitlement To Leave Due To Domestic Or Sexual Violence," to provide that certain employees may take unpaid leave from work to address domestic or sexual violence; all under certain terms and conditions.
