PASSED
This enacted ordinance revised Philadelphia’s sales and use tax rate to 2% on purchases of goods and services from August 1, 2009, through June 30, 2014, instead of the 1% rate listed for other periods. Vendors would collect the sales tax from buyers, while people who use taxable goods or services purchased at retail would pay the use tax, subject to the ordinance’s terms; it would take effect upon authorization by the Pennsylvania General Assembly.
Amending Section 19-2700 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Sales and Use Tax and Hotel Occupancy Tax," by revising the rate of tax, under certain terms and conditions.
