The enacted ordinance changes Philadelphia’s Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP) to follow Pennsylvania Act 44 of 2009. It generally makes elected officials ineligible to participate, but preserves eligibility for officials who entered DROP before the change took effect and for officials first elected before September 18, 2009, including during later reelected terms.

Amending Section 22-310 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP)," by conforming the City's DROP program to the requirements of Pennsylvania Act No. 44 of 2009 (H.B. 1828), which restricts the DROP eligibility of elected officials.
