The enacted ordinance amended Philadelphia’s Public Employees Retirement Code to let members of the City Retirement System purchase credited service for certain prior governmental employment, including military service, Pennsylvania and School District employment, and other qualifying public employment. The purchase is generally limited to 10 years and is subject to conditions involving other pensions, retirement plans, application deadlines, and minimum City service requirements; the ordinance took effect July 1, 2010.

Amending Title 22 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Public Employees Retirement Code," by further providing conditions under which a member of the Retirement System may purchase credited service for other governmental employment, under certain terms and conditions.
