This enacted ordinance requires businesses that sell tobacco products, electronic smoking devices, or certain unapproved nicotine products to obtain and display a Tobacco Retailer Permit for each fixed location. Permits cost $50 for application and renewal, are issued for one person and location, and may be revoked for violations such as false information, missing licenses, or certain unpaid City or School District obligations. The permit requirement took effect January 1, 2012, while the rest of the ordinance took effect immediately.

Amending Chapter 9-600 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Service and Other Businesses," to require tobacco retailers to obtain permits for the retail sale of tobacco products and certain other products containing nicotine, under certain terms and conditions.
