This enacted ordinance revises the boundaries of Philadelphia’s City Council districts and clarifies how city laws that refer to specific districts should be interpreted. The new boundaries apply to Council members whose terms began on the first Monday of January 2016 and to later terms; the existing boundaries and related interpretations remained in effect for the Council term ending then.

Amending Chapter 20-500 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Councilmanic Districts," by revising the boundaries of the Councilmanic Districts as they were established by Bill No. 110547 (approved September 23, 2011), and by clarifying how and when the revision of Councilmanic Districts set forth in this Ordinance and in Bill No. 110547 affects the interpretation of other provisions of The Philadelphia Code and other ordinances that reference specific Councilmanic Districts, all under certain terms and conditions.
