The enacted ordinance amends Philadelphia’s Traffic Code to create rules for bicycle lanes, including definitions and a requirement that a bicycle lane requiring removal of a parking or travel lane be authorized under the ordinance. Bicycle lanes designated before the ordinance took effect may remain unless the Department changes them, and trial bicycle lanes are still allowed under existing emergency and trial regulations; the changes affect people who bike, drive, or park on city streets.

Amending Title 12 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Traffic Code," by providing a new Chapter, entitled "Bicycle Lanes," requiring that the designation of bicycle lanes upon streets be authorized by ordinance, adding definitions and making certain technical changes, all under certain terms and conditions.
