The enacted ordinance changes the deadline for certain property owners to apply to designate their property as homestead property for the Philadelphia homestead tax exclusion, moving the general deadline from July 31 to September 13 of the year before the tax is due. It also sets a separate application period for properties transferred near or after the deadline and establishes deadlines for the Office of Property Assessment to notify applicants of a denial.
Amending Chapter 19-1300 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Real Estate Taxes," by amending the deadline for which certain property owners may apply for a designation of homestead property; all under certain terms and conditions.
