The enacted ordinance prohibits using electronic smoking devices, including e-cigarettes, in covered enclosed public places, within 20 feet of their entrances, and at sidewalk cafés and other outdoor service areas, with certain exceptions. Employers covered by the ordinance must maintain a written workplace policy prohibiting e-cigarette use, and violations may result in a $300 fine.

Amending Chapter 10-600 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Public Places-Prohibited Conduct," by adding a new Section to prohibit the use of Electronic Smoking Devices in public places and in the workplace, under certain terms and conditions.
