The enacted ordinance expands Philadelphia property-tax relief options for owner-occupants and other eligible property taxpayers. It allows city agencies to make hardship or good-cause exceptions to application deadlines for programs including the homestead exclusion, tax deferrals, longtime owner-occupant exemptions, and senior-citizen tax relief, and it provides related adjustments to payment agreements and certain interest, penalty, and tax charges. The ordinance took effect October 1, 2014.
Amending Title 19 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Finance, Taxes, and Collections," by expanding access to property tax relief programs for owner-occupants, all under certain terms and conditions.
