READ AND PASSED
This enacted law requires hotels that lease City property or receive City financial assistance to sign a labor agreement before entering into certain City contracts. The agreement must include a pledge not to engage in picketing, work stoppages, boycotts, or other economic interference for the duration of the City's financial interest; it does not require the hotel to recognize a particular union or employees to join one.
Establishing a new Chapter 17-2200 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Labor Peace Agreements For Hotels Where The City Has a Financial Interest," by requiring a labor agreement to protect the City's proprietary interest in hotel operations which lease property from the City or are financed with City assistance; all under certain terms and conditions.
