This enacted measure amended Philadelphia’s Plumbing Code to require food waste grinders in the kitchen areas of newly constructed one-family, two-family, and multifamily residences. The requirement applies to building permit applications submitted on or after January 1, 2016, and does not apply to buildings connected to an individual subsurface sewage disposal system; the grinders must meet specified standards and have an adequate water supply.

Amending Title 4 "The Philadelphia Building Construction and Occupancy Code," of The Philadelphia Code, by amending Subcode "P," (The Philadelphia Plumbing Code) by adding new requirements for food waste grinders in some new residential construction; all under certain terms and conditions.
