The enacted ordinance amended Philadelphia’s zoning rules to require residential developments with 20 or more parking spaces to provide a set number of parking spaces wired for electric vehicle charging. The requirement ranges from one space for developments with 20–29 parking spaces to at least 5% of spaces for developments with 100 or more, and took effect July 1, 2016; mechanical and valet parking spaces are excluded.

Amending Title 14 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Zoning and Planning," by adding requirements related to the provision of electric vehicle supply wiring in connection with certain accessory parking, all under certain terms and conditions.
