The enacted ordinance amends Philadelphia’s building code to require certain floor assemblies in buildings with truss or other light-frame construction to have additional fire-resistant material underneath, with exceptions such as sprinkler protection or approved equivalent construction. It also directs the Philadelphia Fire Department to use available Licenses and Inspections data to alert first responders about possible light-frame construction hazards; the ordinance is subject to required state code review before it can take effect.

Amending Title 4 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "The Philadelphia Building Construction and Occupancy Code," by amending Subcode "B" (The Philadelphia Building Code), and thus amending the PA Uniform Construction Code for Philadelphia, to add sections requiring contractors, design professionals and developers to add additional fire-resistant material to structures containing truss construction and other light frame construction, under certain terms and conditions.
