The enacted measure amends Philadelphia’s rules on firearms and children. It requires firearms kept in homes where anyone under 18 lives or regularly visits to be unloaded and stored in a locked container, and requires ammunition to be stored separately, except when an authorized user is carrying or directly controlling the firearm. It also continues rules concerning adults who allow children unsupervised access to firearms and provides defenses and penalties for violations.

Amending Section 10-834 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Responsibility to Avoid Possession and Discharge of Firearms by Children," by requiring safe storage of firearms and ammunition; all under certain terms and conditions.
