Philadelphia City Council adopted a resolution urging the U.S. Senate to hold a hearing and confirmation vote on President Barack Obama’s nomination of Judge Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court. The resolution asks the Senate to consider the nomination promptly and sends the Council’s position to Senate leaders and Pennsylvania’s two U.S. senators; it does not itself decide the nomination.
