The enacted ordinance authorizes the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations to order a business or other respondent to stop operating in Philadelphia for a specified period. This remedy may be used after a finding of severe or repeated violations of the city’s Fair Practices Ordinance when the respondent has not made effective efforts to address them.

Amending Chapter 9-1100 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Fair Practices Ordinance: Protections Against Unlawful Discrimination," by adding a provision authorizing the Commission on Human Relations to order a respondent to cease operations as a remedial measure, under certain terms and conditions.
