This enacted measure amended Philadelphia’s Hero Awards program to increase the potential award for the surviving spouse or life partner, dependent children, or dependent parents of a firefighter, police officer, or prosecution detective killed while performing a heroic deed involving a special hazard or risk. The award increased from $25,000 to $50,000, paid at $1,000 per month for 50 months, along with certain technical changes.
Amending Section 21-105 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Hero Awards," by increasing the amount that may be awarded to family members of firefighters, police officers, and prosecution detectives killed in the course of performing heroic deeds, and by making certain technical changes; all under certain terms and conditions.
