READ AND PASSED

This enacted ordinance requires retail pharmacies in Philadelphia to keep enough naloxone or another approved opioid antidote to fill at least two requests and to display signs informing customers that opioid antidotes are available. Pharmacies where all practicing pharmacists legally refuse to dispense opioid antidotes are exempt, and violations can result in a $250 penalty for each day the violation continues.

Amending Title 9, "Regulation of Businesses, Trades and Professions," of The Philadelphia Code to add a new Section 9-637, entitled "Opioid Antidote Availability," to require pharmacies to stock opioid antidotes and display signs giving notice of opioid antidote availability to customers, all under certain terms and conditions.
