This enacted bill expands the Philadelphia Energy Authority’s responsibilities to include developing, facilitating, or financing energy storage, energy generation, and energy-efficiency projects. It also authorizes the Authority to purchase or help arrange energy supplies and services for the City, government agencies, institutions, and businesses; educate consumers about energy choices; and promote Philadelphia’s clean-energy sector and related employment. The City Solicitor may amend the Authority’s Articles of Incorporation as needed to carry out these purposes.

Amending Bill No. 100163-AA, entitled "An Ordinance authorizing the City of Philadelphia to organize an authority to be known as The Philadelphia Energy Authority, pursuant to the terms of the 'Municipalities Authorities Act,' of 2001, June 19, P.L. 287, No. 22, as amended, under certain terms and conditions," to expand the responsibilities and powers of the Authority and authorizing an amendment to its Articles of Incorporation, all under certain terms and conditions.
