This enacted ordinance authorizes the Commissioner of the Department of Streets to enter into a four-year agreement with BFI Waste Systems of North America, Inc.
Authorizing the Commissioner of the Department of Streets, on behalf of the City of Philadelphia ("City"), to enter into an Agreement with BFI Waste Systems of North America, Inc. ("BFI"), pursuant to which BFI will receive municipal solid waste to be collected by or on behalf of the City, and transfer and dispose that municipal solid waste, over a four-year term, with three one-year renewal terms at the sole discretion of the City.

This enacted measure authorizes Philadelphia’s Housing and Community Development Director to apply for federal grants for community development, affordable housing, emergency shelters, and housing assistance for people with AIDS, as well as state grants to prevent and eliminate blight.

Amending Title 9 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Regulation of Businesses, Trades, and Professions," by amending Section 9-601, entitled "Garages, Parking Lots, Sales Lots and Showrooms," by providing further for the filing of rates by public parking garages, under certain terms and conditions.

Amending Title 14 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Zoning and Planning," by increasing the permissible height for fences located on the front lot line of certain properties in residential districts; and by permitting certain architectural embellishments on fences; all under certain terms and conditions.
