THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:

SECTION 1. Chapter 17-600 of The Philadelphia Code is hereby amended as follows:

CHAPTER 17-600. PROCUREMENT PRICE PREFERENCES.

§ 17-601. Definitions.

In this Section the following definitions shall apply:

(6) "Polystyrene Foam" shall mean blown polystyrene and expanded and extruded polystyrene foams, including Styrofoam and Thermocol.

§ 17-602. Price Preference for Certain Products.

The Procurement Department shall, wherever the price is reasonably competitive and the quality adequate for the purpose intended, as may be determined by policy established by the Procurement Department, such as in the procurement manual, purchase the following:

(1) paper and paper products containing recycled materials.

(2) Alternative Fuel Vehicles or Hybrid-Electric Vehicles.

(3) Alternatives to Polystyrene Foam.

SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be effective January 1, 2017.
