THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:

SECTION 1. Section 12-701 of The Philadelphia Code is amended to read as follows:

§ 12-701. Designation of Bicycle Lanes.

The Department is authorized to designate a bicycle lane upon the following streets and regulate the operation and use of vehicles and bicycles upon such streets in a manner consistent with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) regulations:

(*) Germantown Avenue, from North 2nd Street to Master Street: One bicycle lane in each direction, the removal of a parking lane on Germantown Avenue, from North 2nd Street to Girard Avenue, and the removal of a travel lane on Germantown Avenue, from 2nd Street to Thompson Street.

SECTION 2. All existing parking regulations on the following streets are hereby terminated:

Germantown Avenue, from North 2nd Street to Girard Avenue, East side.

SECTION 3. The following parking regulations are hereby established:

No Stopping Any Time

Germantown Avenue, from North 2nd Street to Girard Avenue, East side.

SECTION 4. Pursuant to Section 12-203 of The Philadelphia Code, the following one-way regulations are hereby established:

Germantown Avenue: from Girard Avenue to Thompson Street, westbound; and from Girard Avenue to North 2nd Street, eastbound

SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall take effect as follows:

(a) Section 1: Immediately.

(b) Sections 2, 3 and 4: Upon certification by the Street Commissioner that the parking and traffic direction signs, respectively, have been placed after the completion of the repaving of Germantown Avenue.
