This enacted change to Philadelphia’s residence requirements allows most City civil-service employees to be appointed without already living in Philadelphia. They must establish and keep a bona fide Philadelphia residence within six months after appointment; laborers must still have lived in the City for at least one year before appointment.

Amending Section 20-101 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Residence Requirements," by providing that certain employees in the civil service need not be a bona fide resident of the City when appointed, but must establish and maintain bona fide residence in the City within six months after appointment.
