The enacted ordinance amends Philadelphia’s landlord-tenant rules for residential rental applications. It limits landlords and related rental professionals to charging only for a background or credit check, caps the total fee at the actual cost or $50, whichever is less, allows no more than one such fee in a 12-month period, bans credit checks that lower an applicant’s credit score, and requires applicants to receive copies of completed checks.

Amending Chapter 9-800 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Landlord and Tenant," to establish requirements related to fees charged by landlords to individuals applying for residential tenancy, all under certain terms and conditions.
