The enacted ordinance adds rules to the Philadelphia Code prohibiting people from owning, using, possessing, or transferring certain assault weapons, other specified weapons, accessories, and ammunition, with exceptions for authorized law-enforcement conduct and certified exemptions.

This enacted change to Philadelphia’s residence requirements allows most City civil-service employees to be appointed without already living in Philadelphia.
Amending Section 20-101 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Residence Requirements," by providing that certain employees in the civil service need not be a bona fide resident of the City when appointed, but must establish and maintain bona fide residence in the City within six months after appointment.
